Barbara (Babs) Gray Koch has been illuminating lives at the College of Saint Benedict for 23 years. She served on the college’s board of trustees from 1996-2004, served as chair of the resource development committee and was actively engaged in strengthening the college’s fundraising efforts.
Bab’s personal faith and spirituality have always been central in her life. So, in 1999, Babs and her husband Dave established the Growing in Faith Fund for Campus Ministry to support the college’s various ministries. Her endowed fund has illuminated the faith of Jocelyn Alcala ’17.
While at Saint Ben’s, Jocelyn was an Intercultural LEAD Scholar, on the Saint Ben’s Student Senate and studied abroad in Guatemala. Like Babs, Jocelyn is deeply rooted in her faith. While on campus, she started Spanish Mass, an opportunity for all students to celebrate the Catholic Mass in Spanish. Jocelyn was recently accepted into the Echo Program at the University of Notre Dame. The Echo Program is a dynamic, two-year graduate service program that prepares tomorrow’s leaders in faith formation. Being accepted into this program is competitive at any level, but Jocelyn was awarded an Echo Holy Cross Fellowship for being a top applicant to this year’s cohort.
